Baldur’s Gate 3 review

We are with Baldur’s Gate 3 review. With Baldur’s Gate 3 review, we are starting to examine the game. The first Baldur’s Gate was the game that helped me meet both fantasy literature and desktop role-playing games. In those years, I tried to play the game with my English, which was almost nonexistent and with a thick lexicon, and somehow I was successful. Baldur’s Gate, which made me wonder about fantastic worlds and decided to learn English at an age when I didn’t even read The Lord of the Rings series, has a special place for me.

Larian Studios, which won the love of CRPG fans with Divinity: Original Sin series before, is preparing Baldur’s Gate 3 with the improvements it made on the engine in its hand. Indeed, it is possible to think of “This is an Original Sin game” at first glance, but let’s examine what the game has become with a more detailed review.

Baldur’s Gate 3 review: Twenties Dice Prepare

In general, I start my studies with the story of the game and the way it works. Since Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently in early access, I’ll keep this section a bit shorter. In the third game, we are portraying a character captured by creatures called Illithid. Our character, which we have prepared according to our own wishes, is subjected to some kind of process by Ilithids, who are also called Mind Swimmer. We don’t know now, but the little thing they placed in our eye is a part of the operation to make us one of them.

Baldur’s Gate 3 review: Create Your Own Drizzt Do’Urden Character

Using the rules of Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, the character development screen of the game is also very smooth. In the first level of early access, there are 16 different races and 6 classes, with their subclasses. Human, Elf, Half-Elf, Drow, Githyanki, Halfling, Dwarf and Tiefling are the main races currently selectable. There are different options for all races except the human race. For example, it is possible to choose amidst the Underdark’s drows who believe in Lloth, and the Seldarine drow who ally themselves with other races to fight against Lloth and other drows. The classes we can choose are Cleric, Fighter, Rogue, Ranger, Warlock and Wizard.

The part of customizing the character we have created is currently possible on a limited level. We can choose amidst the available face and hair options. It is said that in the later stages of early access and in the full version of the game, the option to create the character’s face will also be added. The current face models are also modeled using real human beings, and they look pretty nice. I did not spend as long as I claimed on the character screen due to the currently available options, but it was again satisfactory.

Baldur’s Gate 3 review: Gameplay Was Not Different

Baldur’s Gate series stole our hearts as CRPG games with an isometric perspective, developed with the engine called Infinite Engine. It had a structure with a real-time gameplay where we stopped whenever we wanted and gave tactics to the characters. Again, there was an invisible sequence for the raids of characters and some movements, but it did not attract much attention. With the third game, the gameplay system has changed radically.

When the fight starts, the order in which the characters move is determined by the DEX score they have. Characters who are more agile get the first movement row. Characters, who can change their location with those who choose to walk or jump with their movement points, can enter actions to attack, cast spells or drink potions with action points. In addition, there are bonus moves that the characters have and it is possible to use one of them without spending a random point. With the addition of options for pushing the enemy away or throwing them from high, you see that there is a lot you can do in one way or another.

Low-level characters do not have many options, which makes the fights a bit slow. The spells you can cast are limited, warriors shoot arrows and swords and your hit points are very low. After the war, the most faithful way to refresh spells and renew our hit points is to rest.

Baldur’s Gate 3 review: Early Access Problems

The most important part of Baldur’s Gate 3 review is early access problems. That’s all we have to write about what the game has to offer us. Above, I wrote what I saw about what awaits us in Baldur’s Gate 3 game in a way that will not lose your game pleasure as much as possible. What I will write next is the things I encountered in the early access version of the game and would like to share.

As you can imagine, the biggest problem with early access is flaws. Graphics errors within the game are a standard situation. There are funny misconceptions about characters running in T stance, the uprising of the enemy you killed (that is, the model is not aware of your death), characters who get bored and leave the screen during the cinematic. They spoil the atmosphere, but they are often wrong of the kind that make you smile. I wish all the flaws were such easy things.

There are flaws that affect the progress of the game if the tasks that you successfully complete appear incomplete, not able to start some dialogues. Sometimes it is solved when you close and open the game, in some cases it is necessary to return to the previous save point. So be sure to save the game often. In fact, it is useful to take a recording in every faithful environment due to the game’s unavoidable crash issues.

The missing classes, the thoughts so that the characters do not go above the fourth level, the sorcerers can write and use all kinds of scrolls are other highlights of early access. You may quickly notice that the main menu soundtrack is the new version of Divinity: Original Sin 2’s soundtrack. Its renewed version with very nice music and different instruments has been very successful. It also surprised me again. It probably will have its own original theme music later on. In-game music is very nice. I especially liked the war music. Borislav Slavov has done some very nice works here, just like in the Original Sin series.

Baldur’s Gate 3 review: Result

While coming to the conclusion of the content called Baldur’s Gate 3 review, we shared with you the innovations that came along and what you should expect from the early access process of the game. The game, which offers only a part of the main story, but offers a game duration of approximately 25 hours, has the potential to allow you to spend a much longer time with different characters and choices.

Let’s ask again the question we asked at the beginning of the article. Is it worth getting this game in early access and playing? I have mixed opinions on this matter. Let’s consider the pros and cons.

The fact that even the main story, a part of which you can see, offers at least 20 hours of gameplay and you have the opportunity to test the innovations that come to the game are definitely strong pluses. Since you have seen the short once, I don’t think you will want to play it when the full version is released. Different characters offer different contents and it is possible to compete with different events in the next.

If you’re a fan of old games and want to try out the new game quickly, you might want to try early access. Keep in mind that you are now playing the early access version, which has un-added parts and a lot of flaws. If you are not in a hurry, you can wait a little longer and wait for the crash troubles to decrease.

While the price of the game is a bit high for early access, it is pretty cheap compared to $ 60. There is also the possibility that the price will increase with the changing exchange rate in the future. The final decision is up to you. Of course, we will not neglect to review as major updates for the game come and write a nice review from beginning to end when the full version is released.

We have come to the end of our content called Baldur’s Gate 3 review. Content such as Baldur’s Gate 3 review is in PATR. If you want to chat with us, you can click here and come to our Discord server. We wish good games to everyone.
